Samuel Adams Pale Ale is an American Pale Ale that’s brewed by the Boston Beer Company, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a shaker pint glass from a bottle.

Appearance

This Pale pours a hazy yellow ochre with ample sediment suspended in the glass. It’s topped by a thick cap of dense off-white foam that shows good retention. Rocky patches of lace and residue cling to the sides following the reduction.

Aroma

The aroma is bright with a scent of lemon and grain.

Flavor

The palate begins with a mild dose of pine blended with cracker malt. A mild bite of grapefruit and lemon citrus follows and is mellowed by sweet notes of melon and peach.

Mouthfeel

Its feel is smooth with a medium body and matching carbonation. Finishes with a mild astringency.

Overall

The appearance is solid and the aroma is nice but lacks persistence. The palate is pleasantly hoppy with its mix of citrus and pine. Its feel is right where it should be. Seems lighter than it really is. Crisp and refreshing. Easily quaffed. The Samuel Adams Pale Ale is a nice representation of the style and a good summer beer.

Recommended Pairings

The Boston Beer Company recommends the following food pairings with their Samuel Adams Pale Ale: cheddar cheese, chips and spicy salsa, buffalo wings; mains of blackened salmon, Greek salad, burgers, grilled seafood; sweets of spice cake, pistachio ice cream, and almond tart.
