W-n-B Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout is an American Imperial Stout brewed by Terrapin Beer Co., and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a snifter from a bottle.
Appearance
The ale pours an opaque black and is topped by a thick cap of dense, tan-colored foam that shows excellent retention. Once the head recedes, a soapy collar and a thin film cover the liquid.
Aroma
Upon pouring, the aroma is floral but as the beer warms a scent of coffee roast mixed with booze asserts itself.
Flavor
The palate begins with a note of floral hops and a mild coffee roast. Taste recedes to its base of oats and brown bread. A stronger coffee roast follows and the tasting finishes with a dose of booze, dark chocolate, and dark fruits.
Mouthfeel
Its feel is smooth and creamy with a full body and low carbonation. The finish is slightly dry and warming.
Overall
Its appearance is excellent, the aroma is inviting, and those oats lend to a luxurious feel. Its palate is on the verge of being too sweet with dark chocolate but there’s just enough roast and booze to counter. The flavors blend harmoniously to make W-n-B Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout a decadent treat.
