Utz Pin Pin Mango is a Pale Lager by Cervecería Centro Americana, S.A., brewed under the brand Utz Pin Pin. For the purposes of this review, the lager was served in a tumbler from a bottle.
Appearance
The lager pours a crystal-clear straw and is topped by a finger-thick cap of fizzy white froth that bubbles away rapidly. The glass is absent of any lace or residue.
Aroma
The aroma is a sweet scent of processed sugar and overripe mangoes.
Flavor
The palate takes a different tact, beginning with a taste of corn that shifts to a bitter citrus flavor before finishing with an odd flavor of funky, soured mango.
Mouthfeel
The feel is slick with a medium body and moderate carbonation.
Overall
Nothing about this brew is particularly satisfying. The aroma smells artificial. The flavors of the palate just don’t work well together. The feel isn’t as dry as it should be. It’s difficult to find anything particularly redeeming about the Utz Pin Pin Mango. And considering the litany of Pale Lagers available in Guatemala, there’s no reason to give this one a try. But if you should, it’s likely that one is all you’ll stomach.
