Upslope Citra Pale Ale is an American Pale Ale brewed by Upslope Brewing Company, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a shaker pint glass from a can.
Appearance
This Pale pours a crystal-clear golden hue and is topped by a thick cap of puffy off-white foam that shows fair retention. A few patches of sticky lace cling to the sides of the glass following the reduction.
Aroma
The aroma consists ripe stone fruit, yeasty funk, and grain.
Flavor
The palate begins with a taste of cracker malt and transitions to a juicy bite of grapefruit. The bitterness lingers briefly beyond the finish and is mellowed by a flash of tropical fruit.
Mouthfeel
Its feel is relatively smooth with a medium body and matching carbonation. Its finish is crisp, somewhat dry, and has a less-than-moderate astringency.
Overall
Its appearance is fine but the aroma is less than enticing. It also fades rather quickly but perhaps that’s for the best. The palate offers a nice burst of hoppy goodness and is balanced nicely with malt and fruit. The Upslope Citra Pale Ale is a refreshing, easy drinking brew. Ideal for sunny summer days.
Recommended Pairings
Upslope Brewing recommends bacon cheeseburgers, street tacos, and spicy Thai Chicken Curry as food pairings with their Upslope Citra Pale Ale.
