The Patsy is an American Stout brewed by Barley Forge Brewing Co., and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a mug from a bottle.
Appearance
Pours black with an inch-thick cap of khaki foam. The head reduces slowly and leaves streaks and droplets of residue on the glass.
Aroma
The aroma is fantastic. Mostly sweet with scents of coconut and chocolate; backed by roast and rye. Purchasing this beer is worth its aroma alone.
Flavor
The palate is a touch sweet with coconut and dark chocolate; balanced with flavors of toasty malt, espresso, and rye.
Mouthfeel
Mouthfeel is smooth with a medium body and low carbonation.
Overall
Overall, if you like coconut and enjoy stouts, give The Patsy a try. Barley Forge describes this brew as “the holy grail of stouts”, and they just might be right.
