The Huntsman is an American Red Ale brewed by Barley Mow Brewing Company, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a tulip pint glass from a can.

Appearance

Pours a cloudy, tawny hue with a thick cap of cream-colored foam that dissolves slowly. A thin ring of lace is left behind on the glass.

Aroma

A fragrant aroma of pine needles transfers to a palate featuring an immediate blast of herbal hops.

Flavor

Flavor of earthy woods is backed subtly by caramel malt. Finishes bitterly with lemon and pine.

Mouthfeel

Mouthfeel has a medium body with moderate carbonation.

Overall

Overall, doesn’t possess the balance of many brews in this style, but I must admit, its hop-forward character is pretty tasty.
