Summer Love Ale is an American Blonde Ale brewed by Victory Brewing Company, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a wheat beer glass from a bottle.
Appearance
The Blonde Ale pours a brilliantly clear pale gold and is topped by a thick cap of rocky, white foam. The head shows excellent retention and leaves behind patches of lace and residue on the sides while a few bubbles stream upward in the glass.
Aroma
The aroma is fragrant with a scent of bright floral hops and a hint of grain. There’s an earthy character that emerges as the beer warms.
Flavor
The palate begins with a taste of cracker malt that transitions to a mild hoppiness that’s floral and peppery. There’s also a light lemon citrus and their combined bitterness lingers through the finish.
Mouthfeel
Its feel is smooth with a medium-light body and less-than-moderate carbonation. Finishes somewhat dry with a mild astringency.
Overall
The Blonde presents well and its aroma is strong and quite pleasant. The clean palate is quite nice and very evenly balanced. However, the carbonation is a little light and its feel could use a bit more pep. Otherwise, the Summer Love Ale is a smooth and refreshing easy drinker that’s almost perfect for the hot summer months.
