Stone Tangerine Express IPA is an American IPA brewed by Stone Brewing, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in an IPA glass from a bottle.

Appearance
The IPA pours a clear golden orange and is topped by a thick stack of rocky white foam that shows good retention. The head’s reduction leaves patches of sticky lace along the sides of the glass. A soapy cap crests atop the ale while ample sediment is visibly afloat below.
Aroma
The aroma is fragrant with a hint of piney hops and sweetened by fresh-squeezed tangerines.
Flavor
The palate is led by a taste of biscuit punched by a mild hopping of citrus. Juicy tangerine mellows the middle and is followed by a bite of herbal hops. Its bitterness carries through the finish while more tangerine and a sweeter note of pineapple are picked up on the swallow.
Mouthfeel
Relatively smooth feel has a medium body and moderate carbonation. Its finish is somewhat dry and astringent.

Overall
The appearance is solid and its aroma is sweetly pleasant. The palate’s bitter finish is harsh at first but the brew finds a better balance as the beer warms. But there’s still enough bite to please the hopheads while also being incredibly juicy with its heaps of tangerine and pineapple flavor. The Stone Tangerine Express IPA has a lot to like.
From a Small Batch to International Success
The Tangerine Express came about from a small batch that was brewed just for attendees of the 2016 Craft Brewers Conference in Philadelphia. It was originally named Mixtape Ale Vol. 13 and was so well received that it was later released throughout the United States. And the IPA is also available internationally in Australia, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
