Social Lube is an American IPA collaboratively brewed in the New England style by Civil Society Brewing Co. and Swedish brewery All In Brewing. For the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in an IPA glass from a can.
Appearance
The IPA pours a hazy lemon yellow and is topped by a thick cap of loose, soapy white foam that shows good retention. A bubbly froth gathers around the sides following the head’s reduction. A spittle of lace clings to the glass.
Aroma
The fragrant aroma wafts a scent of tropical fruit and a light citrus.
Flavor
Doughy bready leads the palate to a taste of mellow tropical fruit juices of pineapple and mango. The finish imparts a lasting bitterness of lemon peel, resin, and pepper.
Mouthfeel
Its feel is smooth, creamy, and even just a bit chewy. Its medium body has matching carbonation and finishes dry and astringent.
Overall
Social Lube has a nice appearance and a pleasant aroma. Its pronounced bitterness is sure to please the hopheads while its balance of juicy tropical fruit and doughy bread is sure to be appreciated by everyone else. Smooth and refreshing, Social Lube is an easy drinker.
