Sidecar Orange Pale Ale is an American Pale Ale brewed by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a tulip pint glass from a bottle.
Appearance
The pale pours a clear marigold hue and is topped by a thin cap of white foam that persists briefly.
Aroma
The aroma is faint, consisting primarily of orange and malt.
Flavor
The palate is initially quite sweet with caramel and ripe oranges. But as the beer warms, the pale finds a better balance from its trio of hops.
Mouthfeel
Its feel has a medium body and moderate carbonation.
Overall
The Sidecar is another well-made brew from Sierra Nevada, but as a Pale Ale, it clearly stands in the shadow of its big brother.
Recommended Pairings
Sierra Nevada recommends the following food pairings with their Sidecar Orange Pale Ale: grilled Salmon, Indian Bhel Puri salads, orange glazed chicken; cheeses of triple cream, brie, and rich cow’s milk cheese; sweets of marmalade turnovers and crème brûlée.
