What You Need to Know
Señor Krunkles is part of a series and is only available in the IPA Survival Kit 12 packs. This particular variant features tropical fruit flavors of pear and agave. So how was iteration in the Krunkles series? Let’s get to the review.
The IPA pours a slightly hazy deep golden hue and is topped by an inch-thick cap of bone-white foam that shows good retention. The head’s reduction leaves behind a soapy collar. Once the beer settles, the ale is brilliantly clear.
The aroma is bright and sweet with a scent of pear.
The palate is hop-forward and led by a taste that’s floral and then falls back to baked bread. A less—than-moderate bite of floral and spicy hops follows and then the tasting mellows out with sweet tropical fruit and pear.
The feel is smooth with a medium body and matching carbonation. The finish is crisp and dry and its spiciness lends a less-than-moderate warmth.
Señor Krunkles presents well enough and its aroma — while surprisingly sweet — is still enticing, if not intriguing. The palate is even more interesting with its spicy and tropical fruit flavor blend. The feel is reminiscent of that warmth you get from a shot of tequila. Overall, this is a fairly-well executed brew, and while not the best of the series, is still worth a try.
Terrapin recommends the following food pairings with their Señor Krunkles IPA: White Cheddar, Queso Fresco, and Guava.
