Sea Rose is an American Wheat Ale brewed by Ballast Point Brewing Company, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a wheat beer glass from a bottle.

Appearance

The wheat beer pours a clear, pinkish gold and is topped by a thin white head that bubbles down rapidly.

Aroma

The label on the bottle reads “tart cherry wheat ale” and indeed, cherries feature prominently in this brew. The combination of cherries and wheat offer an aroma that’s akin to cherry pie.

Flavor

The palate leads with a honey wheat base before fruity flavors of cherry and pomegranate punch through in a dry, puckering finish.

Mouthfeel

The feel has a light body with ample carbonation. Finishes dry and astringent.

Overall

Overall, crisp, clean, and refreshing, the Sea Rose is a brew you could knock back easily on a hot afternoon. And at only 4% ABV, you could knock back quite a few of them.

Recommended Pairings

Ballast Point recommends the following food pairings with their Sea Rose American Wheat Ale: Brie with green apple, aged Ham with Havarti cheese, peppered duck breasts with cherry-port sauce.
