Saison 500 is a Belgian-style Saison brewed by Dark Sky Brewing Co., and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served on draft into a snifter.

Appearance

Pours a cloudy ochre with a thin head of white froth that vanishes almost immediately. A spittle of lace clings to the glass.

Aroma

Aroma is light with a scent of lemon.

Flavor

Palate showcases rye as its base with flavors of citrus and pepper. Finishes tartly with lemon.

Overall

Overall, the use of rye is a nice twist but the rest of the Saison 500’s palate is underwhelming. Presentation could be improved along with a kick of carbonation.
