PM Dawn is an American Imperial Stout brewed by Trillium Brewing Company, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a snifter from a can.

Appearance

The stout pours an opaque black with a thick cap of porous tan foam that reduces slowly. A lovely lattice of sticky lace clings to the glass.

Aroma

The label states that the beer has been made with cold-brewed coffee and that’s immediately evident from the nose. That pleasant coffee roast aroma smells just like breakfast.

Flavor

The malty palate features brown sugar and rich dark chocolate that’s balanced nicely with coffee roast and a light bitterness from the Columbus hops. Finishes with a lingering caramel sweetness.

Mouthfeel

Luxurious mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with a full body and moderate carbonation.

Overall

Well done! PM Dawn impresses immediately and throughout the tasting. The aroma and taste are simply wonderful. Its feel is supreme. If you enjoy a coffee beer, this Imperial Stout by Trillium is an absolute must.
