Pinner, a Session IPA by Oskar Blues Brewery

Pinner is a Session IPA brewed by Oskar Blues Brewery, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a tulip pint glass from a can.

Appearance

The IPA pours a somewhat cloudy pale golden hue and is topped by an inch-thick cap of rocky off-white foam that shows modest retention. The head’s reduction leaves behind some sticky lace on the glass.

Aroma

The aroma isn’t particularly strong but wafts the nose with a scent of tropical fruit, a light citrus, and some grain.

Flavor

The palate is hoppy with flavors of grapefruit citrus with pine and some resin. Sweet notes of tropical fruit and a light biscuit malt provide a little balance.

Mouthfeel

Its feel is crisp with a medium-light body and moderate carbonation. Finishes dryly with a less-than-moderate astringency.

Overall

Its appearance is satisfactory and while the aroma is faint, it is pleasant enough. The feel is right in line with the style. And its palate is hoppy with enough malt for balance. The Pinner is a solid Session IPA.
