What You Need to Know

Like any good New Englander, this hazy brew makes the most of its use of hops — Amarillo and Citra varietals, in this case. So how was it? Let’s get to the review.

Appearance

The NEIPA pours an opaque golden hue and is topped by an thick cap of dense off-white foam that shows excellent retention. The head’s reduction leaves behind gobs of soapy and sticky residue on the sides of the glass.

Aroma

The aroma offers an inviting mix of citrus, pine, and perfumey flowers.

Flavor

The hop-forward palate is led by a squeeze of orange juice and doughy bread that quickly crests to a more pronounced — yet-still-restrained bite of grapefruit citrus. The tasting then dives sweetly into a fruity finish, imparting flavors of ripe peach, tangerine, pineapple, and mango. As the beer warms a light peppery spice is picked up in the finish.

Mouthfeel

The feel has a smooth draw that finishes dryly, somewhat acidic, and has a moderately-light astringency. Its body is medium with matching carbonation.

Overall

Pete’s Secret Stache looks fantastic in the glass and its aroma is quite enticing. The palate is superb with its blend of bright citrus and sweet tropical fruit flavors. The feel is spot on and overall, Pete’s Secret Stache is so good that it’s not likely to remain a secret for long.
