Passion Pit, an American Blonde Ale by SaltWater Brewery

Passion Pit is an American Blonde Ale brewed by SaltWater Brewery, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a shaker pint glass from a 12 oz. can.

The blonde pours a somewhat clear marigold hue and is topped by a thick cap of puffy white foam that shows modest retention. A smattering of lace clings to the side of the glass and a steady stream of bubbles continuously rises.

The aroma is bright with a scent of tart passion fruit. It’s backed by a hint of musty wheat and yeast.

A taste of doughy bread leads the palate and is mixed with a twist of citrus. A tangy note of passion fruit lingers through the finish.

Its feel is relatively smooth and crisp with a light body and moderate carbonation.

A variant of the LocAle, the Passion Pit’s use of passion fruit makes the palate a little more tangy than tart. Better than its sibling, the malt is allowed more presence, giving this brew a better balance. And this blonde has a really nice flavor for such a low ABV. This session beer makes a really good choice if you’re knocking back a few on a sunny day at the beach.
