Passion Fruit Kicker is an American Wheat Ale brewed by Green Flash Brewing Co., and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a wheat beer glass from a bottle.
Appearance
The ale pours a mostly-cloudy golden yellow and is topped by a thick cap of fluffy white foam that shows modest retention. A smattering of residue clings to the sides and a soapy collar rings the glass.
Aroma
The aroma is tartly sweet with a scent of passion fruit and a hint of grain.
Flavor
The palate begins with wheat bread and a light citrus and transitions to a puckering squeeze of passion fruit. Backed by more wheat.
Mouthfeel
The ale is smooth and crisp with a medium-light body and moderate carbonation. Finish is somewhat dry and mildly astringent.
Overall
Bitterness is very mild but the fruity tartness lends balance to the wheat bread. Appearance is lackluster. Aroma is nice. The Passion Fruit Kicker isn’t the most interesting brew but it is light, refreshing, and easily quaffed. A good brew to have on hand for the less-discerning craft beer drinkers. But it’s not a bad brew for the connoisseurs either.
