Les Grisettes, a Belgian-style Saison by Green Bench Brewing Co.

Les Grisettes is a Belgian-style Saison brewed by Green Bench Brewing Co., and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a tulip glass from a bottle.

Appearance

The Saison pours a clear gold and is topped by a finger-width cap of white foam that holds briefly. A steady stream of bubbles rises continuously in the glass.

Aroma

The aromatics are funky with a hint of lemon zest.

Flavor

Palate blends a bed of malts that are pure barnyard hay with flavors of tart citrus, pepper, and a dose of yeasty Brettanomyces.

Mouthfeel

The feel is crisp and effervescent with a light body and ample carbonation.

Overall

The taste profile could use greater intensity while its use of Brett is subdued. On the other hand, appropriate for a farmhouse ale, Les Grisettes makes for a nice session beer; one that’s refreshing and oh so easy to crush.
