Lemon Meringue Pie is an American Blonde Ale brewed by Funky Buddha Brewery, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a wheat beer glass from a bottle.
Appearance
The Blonde pours a hazy, deep golden hue and is topped by nearly an inch-thick cap of bubbly white froth that fizzes away rapidly. Ample effervescence is observed streaming in the glass.
Aroma
The aromatics are tart and sweet; combining lemon and vanilla with cracker malt.
Flavor
The palate follows the nose with lactic lemon blending with sweet vanilla and cracker malt. Mildly soured lemon peel rounds out the finish.
Mouthfeel
Its crisp feel has a medium-light body with a shade over moderate carbonation. Finishes with a mild acidity.
Overall
The Lemon Meringue Pie nicely executes its style and concept. Tart lemon and sweet vanilla are a simple pairing but it’s done well.
