Last Snow is an American Porter that’s brewed by Funky Buddha Brewery, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a Teku glass from a 750 ml bottle.
Appearance
The porter pours a rich black that bleeds to a burgundy at the edges of the glass. A pillowy, mocha head caps the brew, and reduces slowly, leaving streaks of lace on the sides.
Aroma
Heady aroma is toasty and sweet with a pleasing scent of coffee, coconut, and chocolate.
Flavor
Heaps of coconut lead a palate that also features brown sugar, toffee, and fig. Those sweet flavors are countered nicely with nut, dark malt, and coffee roast. Finishes with a lingering sweetness of dark chocolate that coats the back of the throat.
Mouthfeel
A silky smooth feel comes from a medium body and low carbonation.
Overall
The bitterness is somewhat underplayed but otherwise, the nose and palate masterfully blend flavor of sweet and roast. The Last Snow is about as good as it gets in a porter.
