Know Good IPA is an American IPA brewed by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in an IPA glass from a bottle.
Appearance
The IPA pours a lightly cloudy golden orange and is topped by a thick cap of puffy white foam that shows excellent retention. A smattering of lace clings to the glass.
Aroma
The aroma is bright and hoppy with a scent that’s floral and piney. There’s a slight sweetness of tropical fruit.
Flavor
Hops are front and center beginning with a light lemon and white grapefruit that crests to stronger notes of grass and pine that linger through the finish. Lightly toasted bread on the draw with oats appearing in the middle.
Mouthfeel
The feel is relatively smooth with a body that’s just under medium, moderately carbonated. It’s dry with a mildly astringent finish.
Overall
Feels slightly thin on the draw but that light backbone allows those hops to really pop. And pop they do. Plenty of bite for hopheads to enjoy. So easy to drink. Pleasant aroma. Clean palate with such a good hoppy flavor. Light and dry for easy drinking. Not perfect but the Know Good IPA is pretty darn good.
Recommended Pairings
Sierra Nevada recommends the following food pairings with their Know Good IPA: Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, seared flank steak with garlic butter, and ginger spiced carrot cake.
