Joe-Joe’s Cookie Stout is a Sweet Stout brewed by Anchor Brewing, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a mug from a bottle.
Appearance
The ale pours jet black and topped by a generous cap of tan-colored foam that shows good retention. Ample lace and a thick soapy collar ring the glass.
Aroma
The aroma is sweet with a scent of chocolate cookie and a hint of sugary dark fruit.
Flavor
A taste of semisweet chocolate meets a taste of dark fruit and a slight taste of booze and vanilla. Finishes with a mild floral bitterness and a hint of booze.
Mouthfeel
Relatively smooth with a medium body and medium-light carbonation.
Overall
Joe-Joe’s Cookie Stout presents fairly well. Its aroma is pleasant and suits the style and concept nicely. But its palate doesn’t translate quite as well.
