IPA1A is an American IPA brewed by 26 Degrees Brewing Co., and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in an IPA glass from a can.
Appearance
Pours a cloudy orange with an inch-thick, off-white head whose modest retention leaves a soapy ring of residue.
Aroma
The aroma is pleasant with notes of citrus, pine, and malt.
Flavor
The palate opens with a big, juicy bite of grapefruit and orange followed by herbal and piney hops. Malt is subdued and makes just a brief appearance at the finish. That malt does impart a welcome flash of caramel, though.
Mouthfeel
The mouthfeel has a medium body, a moderate carbonation, and a dry finish.
Overall
The palate for the IPA1A is predominantly hoppy and a little more balance would be preferable. However, it is quite refreshing and a solid representation of the style.
