The Hazy Boomsauce certainly lives up to its “hazy” name. The DIPA pours an opaque golden-orange and is topped by a dense cap of puffy white foam. The head shows excellent retention as it slowly peels back, leaving behind streaks of sticky residue.
The aroma is bright and fragrant with citrus.
The palate begins with bready malt and then spikes the taste buds with a hoppy bite of grapefruit and lemon. The tasting mellows from there with a balance of sweet of pineapple with notes of tangerine and melon. A taste of booze mingles in as well. And then the palate finishes with vibrant blast of grapefruit juice that lingers past the swallow.
The feel is smooth on the draw with a prickly bitterness on the backend. The finish lends warmth from its high alcohol. The body is nearly medium-full with moderate carbonation.
Overall, the Hazy Boomsauce looks amazing in the glass. The aroma is quite pleasant and lingers several minutes beyond the pour. The palate tastes wonderful with a nicely balanced juicy hits of bitter and sweet citrus. Its booziness runs a tad high but it’s forgiven when considering the overall excellence of the brew’s palate. The Hazy Boomsauce is a fantastic Double IPA and certainly worth a try.
