Fresh is an American IPA brewed in the New England style by Civil Society Brewing Co. For the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in an IPA glass from a can.
Appearance
The IPA pours a hazy yellow-orange and is topped by a generous stack of rocky white foam that shows excellent retention. Patches of sticky lace clutch the sides of the glass.
Aroma
The aroma is strong with tropical fruit; imparting a scent of orange, pineapple, and mango.
Flavor
The palate begins with juicy orange and then followed by mango and pineapple. The finish is a blast of citrus; lime topped with grapefruit and backed by a hint of resin that’s almost spicy. Doughy bread ties the palate together.
Mouthfeel
Its feel is relatively smooth. A light grain becomes prickly on the backend. Medium body and matching carbonation. Finishes somewhat dry.
Overall
This brew looks amazing, smells enticing, and that oh-so-juicy sweet tropical fruit spiked with fizzy citrus is nothing short of fantastic. Easily quaffed. Makes sense that this should be the flagship brew for Civil Society. When consumed Fresh, this IPA is about as good as it gets.
