The NEIPA pours an opaque bronzed yellow and is topped by a thick cap of rocky, off-white foam. The head shows fine retention and leaves behind a soapy collar and some sticky lace on the glass.
The aroma is mostly sweet with a scent of stone fruit. It’s backed by a hint of dank resin.
The palate begins with a taste of doughy bread and transitions to a firm bite of pine, white grapefruit, lemon, and then it turns spicy with peppery hops. The bitterness lingers through the finish and a flash of sweet tropical fruit rounds out the tasting.
Its feel is smooth with a medium body and matching carbonation. Finishes dryly with a moderate astringency and a mild warming sensation from the alcohol and spicy hops.
The NEIPA looks great in the glass and its aroma is pleasant and persistent. The feel is a little warm but otherwise, it’s fine. The palate is intensely flavored with its citrus, spicy hops, and tropical fruit. Fresh Secrets is another fine variant of Civil Society’s flagship IPA, Fresh.
