Domino is a German-style Pilsener brewed by MIA Beer Co., and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the lager was served in a pilsener glass from a can.

Appearance

The Pils pours a mostly-clear straw hue and is topped by a thick cap of rocky white foam that shows fair retention. The reduction leaves behind a spittle of residue on the glass. Effervescent streams of bubbles rise continuously.

Aroma

The aroma is sweet with a scent of honey and grain. It’s backed by floral and grassy hops.

Flavor

The tasting begins with cracker malt and transitions to a mild bite of floral and spicy noble hops. The bitterness lingers briefly and is rounded out with a mellow sweetness of bread and honey.

Mouthfeel

Its feel is a shade over light with moderate carbonation. The finish is crisp and clean with a mild astringency.

Overall

The appearance doesn’t show as much clarity as expected of the style and its head retention could be better. The aroma is pleasant and smells exactly as one would expect. Its feel is right in line with expectations as well. The palate is well balanced and with a soft bitter finish. Also in line with expectations. Domino is light and refreshing and makes for an easy crusher. It’s certainly a great beer for the simmering Florida heat. And it’s a fine German Pilsener as well.
