DDH Digital Camo is an American Double IPA brewed in the New England style by Civil Society Brewing Co. For the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in an IPA glass from a can.
Appearance
The DIPA pours an opaque yellow-ochre and is topped by a thick cap of dense off-white foam that shows fine retention. A thin layer of bubbly froth tops the ale following the reduction.
Aroma
The aroma strongly wafts sweet tropical fruit and bread.
Flavor
Tasting begins with a flavor of doughy bread and transitions to sweet mango. A citrus bite of grapefruit with a squeeze of lemon follow. Mild notes of pine and resin round out the finish.
Mouthfeel
Its feel is smooth and slightly chewy with a body that’s nearly medium-full with and moderate carbonation. Finishes dry and astringent.
Overall
Both its appearance and aroma are lovely and enticing. Its flavorful palate packs so much juice and green. Hoppiness is assertive but is nicely balanced with a bready malt backbone. Its feel is spot on, and that high ABV is well hidden, making this brew is quite easy to tilt back. The DDH Digital Camo is a wonderful brew and an excellent New England style DIPA.
