The ale pours a bright, crystal-clear brassy hue and is topped by an inch-thick cap of puffy, white foam that offers decent retention. Patches of sticky lace remain along the glass.
The aroma is faint but it does provide a hint of floral hops and malt.
English Two-row barley drives the palate with a soft, bready flavor. Finishes with a mild dose of hops, imparting herbal, spicy, and earthy flavors.
Relatively smooth mouthfeel has a medium-light body and less-than-moderate carbonation.
While this ale does deliver some of the English characteristics expected for the style, its use of hops is fairly understated. However, the Brooklyn Summer Ale does make for a nice thirst quencher, even as the summer begins to fade.
