Brooklyn Local 1 is a Belgian-style Strong Pale Ale brewed by Brooklyn Brewery, and for the purposes of this craft beer review, the ale was served in a tulip glass from a 750 ml bottle.
Appearance
The ale pours a hazy golden yellow color and topped by a thick pad of dense white foam that leaves behind some lacing. Effervescence is visible in the glass.
Aroma
Yeast offers a scent of banana and lemon, spiced with clove, and mixed with bready wheat.
Flavor
Spices of pepper and coriander lead the palate and is followed by a light, yeasty funk. Fruity esters and citrus shift to a bite of floral hops.
Mouthfeel
The ale has a lively feel with a medium body and high carbonation. Finishes dryly.
Overall
The Brooklyn Local 1 has a pleasing palate that’s light and flavorful and easily quaffed in spite of a high ABV. Thoroughly enjoyable.
