Its beer has been available in Ohio for a decade, but now Southern Tier Brewing Co. has announced that they are expanding to downtown Cleveland.
According to Cleveland.com, they’ll be opening their satellite location this Spring at a spot that previously housed the 811 Kitchen Bar Lounge.
Southern Tier on the Rise
Southern Tier first opened its doors in Lakewood, NY, back in 2002. Since that time they’ve continued to expand their brewery and even added a distillery in 2016. As of last year, they had grown to be the 33rd largest craft brewery in the country, according to the Brewers Association.
And now they’re poised to grow even further as they’ve recently merged with Victory Brewing Company. Together they formed Artisanal Brewing Ventures, Inc. and the parent company is based in Dowington, Pennsylvania. The merger made Artisinal the 13th largest craft brewery in the nation and the 22nd largest brewery overall.
Comparatively speaking, Cleveland-based giant Great Lakes Brewing Co. is the 21st largest craft brewery in the country.
Southern Tier is continuing its growth spurt but adding this taproom in downtown Cleveland. Just last year, they opened a location Pittsburgh making this their second expansion.
Everyone already knows that Cleveland rocks. But it also appears as if they’re becoming a hub for craft brewing.
