Mike Hess Brewing will be celebrating their 9th year anniversary by hosting a beer festival and block party—HessFest—closing down Grim Avenue at the North Park location on Saturday, June 22nd from 11:30 AM – 5 PM. The annual event not only brings together local independent craft breweries to showcase their best and most drinkable beers, but notably differs from other for-profit festivals by raising funds for a few very special charities.

This year, net proceeds from ticket sales to HessFest will be donated to The Navy SEAL Foundation, which provides health and welfare programs to Navy SEALs and their families, Pablove Foundation, an organization who provides seed grant money for pediatric cancer research, and The San Diego Music Foundation, which provides music education to San Diego’s youth and emerging industry professionals.

HessFest 9 will feature beer from 25 different breweries, nine local food vendors, a stage featuring live music from local bands, including Grammy-nominated Sully and the Souljahs, a free-to-enter cornhole tournament and live t-shirt screen printing. VIP tickets are available and grant early access to the event, as well as experiencing 20 unique, one-off beer collaborations uniquely created between the brewers and Mike Hess and the participating event breweries. All tickets include unlimited tasters from all breweries, four food samples, and a branded MHB glass which gains discounted beers the rest of 2019.

Mike Hess Brewing has a long history of philanthropic efforts and community work. HessFest is just one way that the San Diego staple has contributed to the community it calls home and HessFest is typically their largest one-day event. Since their launch in 2010, MHB has raised well over $150,000 in cash donations for various non-profit organizations, including the recent inaugural event held Memorial Day, the Beet Cancer Head Shaving raising money and awareness for childhood cancer research through St. Baldricks. More than thirty people shaved their heads and raised over $65,000 for St. Baldrick’s Foundation and pediatric cancer research.
