A Downers Grove, Illinois-based brewery plans to open its second location — and its first restaurant concept — on the ground level of St. Charles’ newest riverfront building.
After developing its brand throughout the Chicagoland area, Alter Brewing Co. is expected to begin open its doors to the public this May. The new brewpub is located at 12 S. First St., a five-story, multi-use building that’s still under construction, according to police Chief James Keegan.
The new facility will include seating for 160 on the inside and for more than a hundred in an outdoor, riverside patio.
In addition to 16 taps of Alter beer, plus additional beverages, the establishment will offer the company’s first full food menu that pairs with its brews, according to the business plan.
The brewhouse is positioned front and center as the heartbeat of the space. A private dining room adjacent to the brewhouse and is certain to bring together small to medium sized private events in a vibrant sit down or cocktail environment.
The brewpub, which is currently seeking a 2 AM permit, will have a “very exclusive and extensive” outdoor dining area with a seasonal enclosure and a container bar, Keegan said. The outdoor patio is adjacent the city’s new east plaza and is situated along the Fox River and will be open 12 months out of the year. The patio will feature live music and seasonal decor.
