West Sixth Brewing Company is a Kentucky Proud independent brewery dedicated to doing good and brewing great beers. A production craft brewery and taproom are located in a historic Rainbo bakery in Lexington, Kentucky. Flagship beers include the IPA, Amber, Pennyrile Pale Ale, Hop Static, and Pay it Forward Cocoa Porter.

Founded in 2012, West Sixth Brewing is an award-winning brewery based in Lexington, Kentucky, operating two taprooms in our home city, a farm in Frankfort, and a Louisville taproom opening in the NuLu neighborhood in Spring 2020. We produce a wide variety of beers that we distribute throughout Kentucky and across the Ohio River in Cincinnati. We’re driven by brewing high quality creative beers, making positive social impact on the communities we’re a part of, and creating an awesome place to work for our team.

History

West Sixth Brewing was founded in a 100 year old building called the Bread Box, historically used for the Rainbo Bread Factory, in Lexington, Kentucky. We brew, can and bottle our beer out of this location, selling it at bars, restaurants, grocery and liquor stores throughout the state of Kentucky and across the Ohio River in Cincinnati. We pride ourselves on the craft beer we make and having a positive impact on the communities we’re a part of.

We focus our brewing talents on a wide variety of beers, starting when we opened with the West Sixth IPA and now canning 14 beers throughout the year with countless bottles being released. In our taprooms in downtown Lexington (Main Taproom at 501 W. 6th Street and The West Sixth Greenroom at 109 W. Main) and at our Farm, we have 15-20 West Sixth varieties on tap, along with unique small batch bottles from our Sixfold and Barrel Aged series. We are a growing team of over 40 employees, focusing on brewing beers with high quality and creativity that we’re proud to serve to our friends and family, but most importantly: that we like to drink!

Here at West Sixth, we not only like to make good beer but the social impact we are able to make on our communities is a top priority. We support the direct work of non-profits through our Pay it Forward Cocoa Porter, Sixth for a Cause, Wooden Nickel, Pedaling for a Purpose, and sponsoring events we believe in.
