Surreal Brewing Company

Founded in Campbell, California by husband and wife team, Tammer Zein-El-Abedein and Donna Hockey, Surreal Brewing Company aims to fill a void in the marketplace with a variety of great-tasting non-alcoholic beverages. Surreal Brewing brings forth a new era in which health-conscious and sober individuals can still enjoy the unique, crisp flavor of beer anytime without regret or exclusion from social gatherings.

At Surreal Brewing, we are pioneering a path into the non-alcoholic beer market by becoming one of the first companies in the world solely dedicated to brewing non-alcoholic craft beers. Our products are currently in over 200 stores and more than 20 states and sell to all 50 states online.

We are focused on inclusivity and wellness and have created the U.S.’s first NA Red IPA, Porter, Kolsch, and Hazy IPA. We have the lowest calorie line of beers currently made in the U.S. and use a wholesome brewing process and all natural non-GMO ingredients. We are also the first NA company to create gluten reduced styles.

Our flagship beer, NA Chandelier Red IPA, won the World Beer Award in 2018 and has only 33 calories per can. It has a malty backbone with notes of stone fruit and a complex, mild hoppy flavor. Released in Fall 2018, 17 Mile Porter is perfect for breakfast and desserts. It has only 50 calories per can and 0g of sugar. We released two new styles this spring (2019), also low calorie and perfect for summer. They are Natural Bridges Kolsch (17 calories) and Juicy Mavs Hazy IPA (25 calories).

We aim to provide our customers with the complexity and depth of taste they deserve and that can be enjoyed on any occasion. In the U.S. alone there are many millions of people that cannot drink alcohol for one reason or another (e.g. health reasons, due to certain medications, beliefs, fitness, pregnancy, etc.) and a hundred million more that would enjoy that craft beer taste that pairs so well with taco Tuesday’s at work. With that, we became inspired to extend the craft beer movement to people who crave an adult tasting non-alcoholic beverage with an anytime and anyplace beer!

Surreal’s beers are fermented from grains containing gluten and crafted to remove gluten. Analyzed using the R5- Gliadin ELISA assay. Our gluten reduced brews are under 20 parts per million gluten. The actual gluten content of this product cannot be verified, and this product may contain gluten.

The Surreal Story

Surreal Brewing Company is a family run brewing company that places great value on our customers. We are a husband and wife team (Tammer and Donna, nice to meet you) with three kids and a passion for craft beer.

As NA drinkers we had accepted that we wouldn’t be enjoying the mosaic of beer styles available to others. However, after a major life change — a diagnosis and successful treatment for breast cancer, we wanted to celebrate with a non-alcoholic beer.

We were wildly disappointed by what was on the market and, to be honest, we felt excluded. Suddenly it wasn’t something we wanted to accept anymore. We guessed that others felt the same way and so, with them in mind, we started homebrewing a recipe for a non-alcoholic craft beer.

Something different. Something we wanted to enjoy and would be proud to celebrate with, drink with our friends, and take along on hikes. It took a while, but after 9 long months our flagship Chandelier Red IPA was born and launched in June of 2018.
