Modist Brewing Co.
Named Minnesota’s Most Innovative Brewery, Modist Brewing Co. is a North Loop neighborhood taproom and brewery aiming to modify beer and how it is perceived. Utilizing a mash filter powered brewing system, we push past traditional brewing by embracing creativity and unconstrained experimentation.
This starts with the approach to recipe development taken by our Head Brewer, Keigan. Contrary to starting with a style guideline in mind, then moving forward – he starts with a flavor and experience in mind, then works backward. And since we’ve decided to not be bound by style guidelines, he’s free to use whatever ingredients in any amount with whatever technique he wants to create a new beer experience.
To enable this philsophy and to enhance our creativity, we created a custom built brewhouse that allows us to make the beers we want to make. It’s centered around the region’s first mash filter. This piece of equipment allows us to use any grain in any percentage – and do so while using a fraction of the water and energy of a traditional brewery.
Modist Brewing Co. is an independent craft brewer.

Proud to Support Independent Craft Brewers
For years, small and independent U.S. craft breweries have been turning the beer world upside down. Their ability to take risks, innovate flavors and build better communities has made the U.S. the craft beer capital of the world.
To proudly display that independent spirit, the Brewers Association created a symbol to unify U.S. craft breweries and those who want to support them. This certified mark gives beer lovers an easy way to identify independent craft beer.
