Edge City Brewery

Edge City Brewery is a three-barrel brewery located off of Monroe Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. A variety of beers are available as well as wine, cider, and other guest taps. Come enjoy the unique taproom or outdoor patio.
History
Edge City Brewery brothers Jared and John Thomas grew up in the brewery haven of Asheville, North Carolina. Now they’re partners and owners of southeast Charlotte’s first brewery opening this fall. Between now and then they’ll be busy designing their new space at Meridian Place, creating and experimenting with flavors and ingredients, and coming up with their brand identity. Mandii Green, also a partner in the brewery, will work on marketing the area’s first brewery.
The name Edge City describes what they’ve been seeking — a community on the edge of revitalization, and their desire to live on the edge. They think they’ve found just the right home base in the MoRA community. They grew up being outdoors, but they want their outdoor vibe reflected in an urban setting and style. They’ll use local ingredients and have a focus on sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
Jared, the brewmaster, and John, the entrepreneur, saw the Asheville brewery scene as having a more inclusive outlook, contrasted with Charlotte’s more competitive mindset. The brothers are both outgoing and social, and want to bring that sense of inclusivity from Asheville to the Charlotte beer scene and to the MoRA area.
The Taproom
The 16 ft. ceiling lends itself to creating an interior mezzanine level, increasing the impact of the 1,200 sq. ft. space. The second level will house the brew operations. They plan to bring the outdoors in with their design, and create a comfortable patio and area outside – with a place for kids and families to play, a shady pergola, and an area for dogs. A solarium will help merge the indoor and outdoor spaces.
The huge windows open up to views of the Embrace sculpture. The brewery should quickly turn into the go-to community gathering spot, providing some much-needed indoor/outdoor beer drinking space.
They’ll have 14-16 rotating beers on tap and seasonal bottle releases. Not a beer drinker? They also plan to have a selection of wine, cider and kombucha, and an easy way to order food from Hawthorne’s NY Pizza located right next door.
