Due South Brewing Co. is a veteran-owned, independent craft brewery with beer available in over 1,000 stores, bars and restaurants from Orlando to Key West. Every beer the brewery produces is proudly brewed in Boynton Beach in the South Florida region. The brewery is housed in a large 27,000 sq. ft. warehouse where dozens of beers are produced throughout the year on a 15 BBL brew system.
The brewery’s history begins on a sunny back porch when founder and owner Mike Halker ventured out to a local home brew shop to find wine-making supplies so that he could create sulfite-free wine for his wife Jodi. However, the shop owner steered Mike towards the beer-making equipment, saying “Wine takes too long.” When Mike replied that he didn’t like beer, the owner simply quipped, “You haven’t had the right beer yet.”
Mike eventually created his first batch of home brewed beer in 2005, a clone of Samuel Adams Boston Lager. Five years and hundreds of 5 gallon batches later, he began to put together his business plan to start a brewery in South Florida.
Due South opened to the public on May 12, 2012, with a modest setup that allowed for a couple of beers to be poured to the incredible crowd that gathered to experience locally crafted beer.
Due South is currently in bars and restaurants from Orlando, to the Treasure Coast, to Key West.
