Outside the production brewery and tasting room at Coppertail Brewing Co. in Tampa, Florida
Coppertail Brewing Co.

Coppertail Brewing Co. is an independently owned production brewery and tasting room in the historic Ybor neighborhood of Tampa, Florida. The brewery became operational in the summer of 2014. Our staff brews on a state-of-the-art 50 barrel Rolec brewhouse. We have 1,000 barrels of fermentation space with tanks ranging from 30 barrels to 200 barrels.
We craft all of our beer in Tampa and ship our 6-packs and kegs to bars, restaurants and grocery stores from Key West to Jacksonville. We also sell beer by the pint in our tasting room and offer tours of the brewery premises.
Our core offerings are brewed year round and each tell a unique story through flavor, aroma and artwork. While they are all unique, they all embrace uncompromising quality and ingredients.
Coppertail was founded on the desire to bring more quality, Florida-brewed beer to the thirsty masses. Florida Inspired. Tampa Brewed.
History
Our company was founded by Kent Bailey and Casey Hughes. By day, Kent was an investment attorney at a Tampa firm. By night, he was in his garage brewing the beer that reminded him of the craft styles he had grown to love, decades before, as a study abroad student in Europe. He was growing increasingly frustrated that he couldn’t run up to a store on a Friday night and pick up a six-pack of local, craft beer.
Meanwhile, Casey was making award-winning beer in New Jersey but trying to find a way back to the warm, Florida sun. Out of a mutual passion for brewing and a desire to bring the highest quality beer to more Floridians, Coppertail was born.
A Mysterious sea creature
The story starts with a 5 year old girl (our owner’s daughter) telling tales of an enormous creature that she coined “Coppertail.” It’s found in the waters around Tampa Bay causing mischief and mayhem for people and sea life alike.
The mysterious beast continues to lurk the Tampa waters only revealing its tail for those who are lucky enough to witness.
A tasting room as unique as our brand
Our tasting room is built and decorated with old world Tampa in mind. Our bar is reclaimed wood from the Arturo Fuente building. Rail cars were used to transport mayonnaise and olives from our building in the 1920s. Our bar foot rail is the long-buried train rail that we unearthed during construction. Our bar is decorated with old relics that each have their unique stories. It’s important to us that those stories never are forgotten.
We pour 20 unique beers at any given time that regularly rotate. Our brewers’ creativity keeps the tap list exciting and ever changing. We offer tours that allow our guests a unique view into our brewery. You’ll sample beer and hear about the history of Coppertail and our 100 year old Ybor City building.
