What started in 1996 as a small group of homebrewers who simply wanted to make great beer evolved into the team of adventurers known today as Ballast Point Brewing Company.
We started out in 1996 as a small group of San Diego home brewers who simply wanted to make a better beer. In our exploration, we became obsessed with ingredients — tinkering, testing and tasting to find the perfect balance of taste and aroma. That adventurous spirit leads to award-winning beers in classic and unique styles while challenging our own tastes and expanding yours.
From bringing a hoppy twist to a porter or adding four types of malt to its amber ale, to creating the breakthrough gold-medal winning Sculpin IPA, the San Diego-based company is known for adding its touch and asking if there’s a better way.
Now an internationally recognized leader in the craft brewing industry with 6 brewery locations in California and Chicago, the company makes over 50 styles of beer and distributes to all 50 states and 17 countries internationally.
Home Brew Mart
Home Brew Mart has been serving brewers world-wide for 25 years now. From simple starter kits, to advanced all grain brewing systems, we have everything you need to brew the beer you want. Our extensive inventory includes a wide variety of ingredients and equipment and kegging supplies. We also have a friendly and knowledgeable staff to back up our products. Helping you make great beer is our number one goal.
Today, Home Brew Mart remains in its original location, continuing to aid home brewers and their beer dreams alike, while serving as a tasting room for many of our ‘pro’ beers. Staying true to Ballast Point’s roots, Home Brew Mart also regularly taps beers from home brew recipes, classes, and any other innovative experiments coming out of our 1 bbl home brewing system.
Little Italy
Located in the heart of Little Italy, this location offers bayside breezes, award-winning and experimental brews, and a casual dining ambiance indoors and out. Sip pints on the patio or in a private cabana while watching overhead planes, or watch our brewers brew an R&D beer.
Miramar
A must-see in San Diego. Our largest west coast brewery and restaurant is an impressive sight to behold with beautiful German copper kettles, a sprawling indoor/outdoor restaurant, patio with fire pit and bag toss games, brewery tours and merchandise shop.
Anaheim
Located in the heart of the Downtown Disney District of Anaheim, this brewery + kitchen features a full menu of locally-inspired cuisine complete with kid-friendly options, and a large variety of our award-winning beers fresh from the tap. Enjoy the SoCal sunshine on the rooftop patio complete with outdoor bar and lounge area, and pick up a souvenir at the merchandise shop before you go.
Long Beach
Get ready to stay all day. With refreshing ocean breezes and incredible water views, our Long Beach location is a sprawling harborside spot with two stories, outdoor patios with fire pits, and 60+ beers on tap to enjoy while watching passing boats and gorgeous sunsets.
Chicago
With a west coast meets West Loop vibe, our Chicago brewpub blends California cuisine with local flavors to create exceptional dishes for Fulton Market’s most discerning foodies. With exposed brick, a front area brewing system and a rooftop tasting room & patio, it’s a casual-yet-lively space to enjoy some of our 40+ beers on tap—including a few Chicago exclusives.
