Attic Brewing Company

Attic Brewing Company originated in 2010 when we started homebrewing in our attic apartment in Philly’s historic Germantown neighborhood. Our first beer was a black IPA brewed from a kit that not only tasted great, but paired really well with Keebler’s fudge striped cookies. We were hooked! We became fascinated with the art of homebrewing, concocting new recipes with traditional and strange ingredients while adapting to the challenges of brewing in a third floor attic apartment (Our downstairs neighbor discovered beer dripping from her ceiling one day).

When we didn’t brew, we visited hundreds of craft breweries all around the U.S.A., taking mental notes on the beer, the atmosphere, the operations, and the community impact. It didn’t take long before we dreamed of opening our own brewery someday. After falling in love with the history, culture, and diversity of Germantown, we knew the neighborhood is the perfect place for us to make that dream a reality.

The Taproom

We’ve been striving to make our taproom a unique experience for everyone who visits us. We have an awesome back bar that dates back to the late 19th century. Philadelphia Salvage created a front bar for us with reclaimed materials salvaged from old buildings and homes in the Philadelphia region. We picked out some beautifully restored antique lights from John at J&N Antique Lighting. And we have an amazing wall full of art from local Germantown artist! That homey, nostalgic look we are going for is coming together!

Our taps are pouring our beer, guest beer, and cider! We’ll rotate through our ales and lagers, making sure there is always a beer style for everyone. We will not have a kitchen, which will make us a “Bring Your Own Food” joint. Deke’s BBQ will conveniently be next door from which you’ll be able to order from in our taproom. We’ll bring in guest food trucks as well!

As far as pets, we love animals, but as of right now we do not allow dogs in the taproom. For entertainment we’ll have live music, board games, quiz nights, bingo, drunk history parties, Metal Mondays, and B-Movie TV… just to name a few.

Most importantly, we set very high standards and will never serve mediocre beer, even if it costs us a batch down the drain.

Attic Brewing Company is an independent craft brewer.
